This week, I had the opportunity to speak as part of digital manufacturing panel at the 2012 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Center for Automation Technologies and Systems (CATS) Technology Showcase & Conference. CATS is set up as a way for industry to utilize the extensive pool of knowledge and expertise in science and technologies of automation resident at RPI. 

Michael Molnar, chief manufacturing officer of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and director of the Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office (AMNPO), will deliver the keynote address at the Rensselaer Center for Automation Technologies and Systems (CATS) 2012 Technology Showcase and Conference.

The Center for Automation Technologies and Systems (CATS), together with the Smart Lighting Engineering Research Center (ERC) and the Department of Electrical, Computer & Systems Engineering (ECSE), present a seminar by Dr. David Thorsley, Research Scientist, DoD Biotechnology HPC Software Applications Institute (BHSAI) at Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD, entitled: "Mathematical Modeling for Stress and Fatigue Management," to be held in JEC 3117 on Friday, April 13 at 11:00am. This inaugural workshop, first in a series to be held across the nation, provides an opportunity for representatives from industry, academia, and government to share perspectives, pose questions, and propose ideas to design the proposed National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI).

Rensselaer CATS is pleased to announce that Michael F. The Rensselaer Center for Automation Technologies and Systems (CATS) is hosting its annual Technology Showcase and Conference from 2:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, April 23, and 8:00am to 4:00pm on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Hilton Garden Inn - 235 Hoosick Street, Troy, NY.

The Department of Electrical, Computer & Systems Engineering (ECSE) together with the Center for Automation Technologies and Systems (CATS) present a seminar by Dr. Eric Klavins, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington in Seattle, entitled: "Toward Engineered Collective Behaviors in Bacteria and Yeast," to be held in JEC 3117 on Friday, February 10 at 11:00am. Rensselaer CATS' Associate Director of Manufacturing, Dr. Dan Walczyk has been promoted to Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering (MANE).

The Center for Automation Technologies and Systems (CATS) presents a seminar by Dr. Ken Halvorsen, Postdoctoral Fellow, Immune Disease Institute, Harvard University, entitled: "Forces in Nanoscale Biology: New Insights and Techniques in Single-Molecule Manipulation," to be held in CII 5003 on Monday, Deceber 5 at 1:30pm.
