From Assembly Magazine - On Campus: RPI Center Focuses on Advanced Manufacturing

Although Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is the nation’s oldest technological university, it’s on the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing. The Center for Automation Technologies and Systems (CATS) is at the forefront of research focusing on robotics, composites, nanotechnology, fuel cells and other evolving fields.

The center was founded in 1988 as part of the New York State Center for Advanced Technology program. The program was created 30 years ago to facilitate the transfer of technology from New York’s top research universities into commercially viable products produced in the private sector.
