The Center for Automation Technologies and Systems (CATS) is pleased to present a seminar by David H. Altman, Mechanical Engineer, Advanced Technology Programs Directorate of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, entitled "Thermal Management Challenges in Modern Defense Systems" to be held in JEC 3117 on Friday, November 16 at 1:30pm. Everyone is welcome!!
This talk reviews thermal management challenges in modern defense electronics systems. An overview of the significance of thermal management and unique requirements associated with military electronics will be presented. Technologies being developed at Raytheon to address these challenges will be discussed, including improved intra-device cooling, novel thermal interface material systems and heat spreaders, and two-phase cooling systems. Key results from these developments will be presented, with emphasis on how scientific advancements in thermal management technology translate to improved system performance.
